ONLINE SELF-COMPASSION AND SOMATIC EXPERIENCING WORKSHOP
Date: SATURDAY 17TH June
Time: 11AM - 1PM
Venue: ONLINE (ZOOM)
So many people in western society have learned from a young age that we always need to be better. That we need to work harder, earn more, be healthier and fitter, be a better friend or parent. We have been conditioned to be hard on ourselves and be relentlessly self-critical.
It makes sense then that so many of us struggle with an inner critic. An inner critic that can be harsh, blaming, critical or shaming - especially during times of struggle or perceived inadequacy.
How do we create a different, kinder, relationship with ourselves and ease our suffering?
Rapidly expanding research shows that mindfulness and self-compassion are strongly associated with emotional well-being, lower levels of anxiety and depression, better healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and lead to more satisfying personal relationships and enhanced self-care.
Somatic Experiencing is a gentle yet effective approach to gaining greater awareness of physical sensations and their connection to emotional well-being.
This workshop will focus on how to tame the inner-critic and teach skills to soothe and ease toxic inner criticisms while promoting confidence and inner strength.
The methods and techniques in this workshop will be primarily body based and attendees will have the opportunity to explore the connection between their body and mind, develop a deeper connection with their body, and learn about the principles of Somatic Experiencing.
The workshop consists of guided meditations, visualisations, talks, experiential exercises, self-reflective writing, group discussions, strategies, tools and suggested home practices.
